Colored (or coloured) is a racial descriptor historically used in the United States during the Jim Crow era to refer to an African American. In many places, it may be considered a slur. Colored and coloured are both English terms. Colored is predominantly used in πΊπΈ American (US) English (en-US) while coloured is predominantly used in π¬π§ British English (used in UK/AU/NZ) (en-GB). In the United States, there is a preference for " colored " over "coloured" (98 to 2).
