Didactic Training Course including Patient Demonstration on Regenerative Penile Ultrasound Duplex Doppler for Male Sexual Dysfunction
An ultrasound examination of a penis and testicles is a valuable diagnostic tool to properly diagnose erectile dysfunction. When conducting duplex ultrasound on the penis, sound waves are reflected back when they contact relatively dense structures, such as fibrous tissue or blood vessel walls. These reflected sound waves are then converted into pictures of the internal structures being studied.
A duplex ultrasound is most useful in evaluating possible penile arterial disorders. Further studies of the venous drainage system as well as arterial imaging are usually recommended if vascular reconstructive surgery is anticipated. Erectile dysfunction is divided into two etiologic categories: psychogenic and organic. Most causes of erectile dysfunction were once considered to be psychogenic, but current evidence suggests that up to 80 percent of cases have an organic cause.
Organic causes are subdivided into vasculogenic, neurogenic and hormonal etiologies.
Vasculogenic etiologies represent the largest group, with arterial or inflow disorders being the most common. Abnormalities of venous outflow (corporeal veno-occlusive mechanism) are much less common. Regardless of the primary etiology, a psychologic component frequently coexists.
This informational course includes the doppler technique being performed on a patient and is designed to provide you foundational for its use in male sexual dysfunction. This course will educate you on the science and details of Duplex Ultrasound and the clinical application to help your patients rejuvenate and repair damaged vascular tissue for erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease.
This course is intended for all practitioners; those with no experience with regenerative therapies to those with significant experience.
